The ASC has been in operation since 1929 as the parent body of the 195 Agricultural shows throughout New South Wales. Their primary role is to provide support, service, development and ideas for the growth of our shows. The Board of Directors Council is made up of delegates from across the NSW shows.

The goals of the Agricultural Societies Council include, but are not limited to:
- To promote and protect the pastoral, agricultural, horticultural and industrial resources of Australia through promotion and protection of Pastoral, Agricultural and Horticultural Societies in NSW.
- Education of young people through the livestock judging competitions held throughout the State, culminating in State Finals at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
- Promote the involvement of youth in shows by holding competitions for young people and encouraging them to participate in Show Societies and Agricultural Youth Groups.
South Western Group of Show Societies
The 195 Agricultural Shows across New South Wales are divided into 14 regional groups, with each group represented by one or two delegates at the ASC.
The South Western Group (group 9) is one of the largest groups in the state and includes the Show Societies of: Ardlethan, Ariah Park, Barellan, Barham/Koondrook, Berrigan, Bribbaree, Cootamundra, Deniliquin, Finley, Griffith, Hay, Hillston, Lake Cargelligo, Leeton, Narrandera, Temora, Ungarie, Wakool, Weethalle, Wenthworth, and West Wyalong.
The South Western Group (group 9) is one of the largest groups in the state and includes the Show Societies of: Ardlethan, Ariah Park, Barellan, Barham/Koondrook, Berrigan, Bribbaree, Cootamundra, Deniliquin, Finley, Griffith, Hay, Hillston, Lake Cargelligo, Leeton, Narrandera, Temora, Ungarie, Wakool, Weethalle, Wenthworth, and West Wyalong.

The VAS encompasses 123 affiliated shows, including 104 Victorian rural and regional agricultural societies, 9 Field Days, 8 rural and regional shows in New South Wales, and 2 rural and regional shows in South Australia.
VAS is a member-based, not for profit organisation that is dedicated to supporting local communities deliver local events in rural and regional Australia. VAS runs 22 state-wide competitions from livestock to carrot cake to Junior Show Amabssadors.

The 123 Agricultural Shows across Victoria, NSW and SA are divided into 11 regional groups.
The Goulburn Valley Riverina Group includes the Show Societies of: Berrigan, Cobram, Corowa, Dookie, Euroa, Finley, Kyabram, Nathalia, Numurkah, Rochester, and Shepparton.
