2017 will mark Finley's 100th annual show.
In our 100 years, only four shows have been missed - 1931 due to drought and depression, and 1940-1943 due to World War Two. In 2013 we celebrated 100 years since the show started, and now we are staging our 100th show!
A book looking back at 104 years worth of local history will be launched this year to celebrate reaching this amazing milestone. The Show Society is one of the oldest organisations in this community, and the show is the longest running event for our town.
Set to feature a collection of photographs, newspaper clippings and anecdotes, Finley Show Secretary Carol Kennedy says the book will provide insight into the popular event's long history - "We want to share the history of the Finley Show with the area, because it's an important part of our community."
Titled '100 Shows, 104 Years' the book is being written and compiled by committee member Victoria Kennedy. If you have any photos or clippings, please call the Secretary on 0499 872 437, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
A dinner will be held on Friday, August 25 to celebrate this anniversary, and to conduct our Miss Showgirl Competition.
Our 100th Show is one not to be missed! Schedules will be available online soon, and in physical format later in the month.
